It’s a familiar feeling – the rush of everyday life, juggling busy schedules, managing school pick-ups, endless meetings, and the monotonous feeling of weekly routines. As a family, we crave those weekends that break us free from the mundane and allow us to live in the moment, together. These are the moments we look forward to and that help us to create lasting memories together.
This January, we experienced true W.O.W. moments in the stunning region of Lenzerheide, a winter wonderland perfect for families looking to get away and experience the best that winter has to offer.

From Challenge to Magic
Let’s be honest - unforgettable moments are rarely easy; they’re earned through a mix of challenge and reward, and our first W.O.W. moment was no exception. After a slow, relaxing morning playing games at the hotel, we were ready for adventure and headed to the Rothorn side of the ski resort. Little did we know we were about to be seriously pushed out of our comfort zone. At the top, we faced biting -10 degree temperatures and fierce winds, making the descent feel like a battle against the elements. We carefully made our way down, until we finally reached the bottom and headed straight to the cozy Motta Hut for a well-earned hot chocolate.
But the real magic happened that afternoon when the weather shifted, and we witnessed something truly extraordinary: a solar halo - a stunning circular rainbow suspended in the sky. As the sun began to set, we started heading back toward the gondola, but on a whim, we changed our plans. Fresh powder called to us, and we couldn’t resist. With the breathtaking sunset casting a golden glow over the valley below, we all took turns skiing down through the untouched snow. Sure, we fell - more than once - and laughed as we struggled to get back on our feet, but that sunset, and the icy slope we conquered, are memories that will stay with us forever.

A Well-Deserved Date Night
After all of the adventure of the day, we couldn’t wait to return to our cozy hotel for some much-needed relaxation. With the kids happily off to the evening program at the kids club, we had the chance to enjoy some grown-up time. After a long, cold day on the slopes, the hotel’s spa felt like a true retreat. The warmth of the Hammam and Finnish sauna was the perfect remedy for tired muscles, and lounging outside in the fresh alpine air gave us a chance to reset and reflect on the day.
Feeling refreshed, we headed to dinner, enjoying the rare opportunity to sit down as a couple and savor the evening without distractions. It was a chance to reconnect, share stories from the day, and truly enjoy each other’s company. Meanwhile, the kids were having a blast at the kids club movie night, excited to have their own time to relax and have fun. It was one of those moments where everyone could enjoy a little independence, and we could appreciate the simple pleasure of a quiet meal together. It was a great way to end the day, enjoying the feeling that we’d each had a moment to unwind in our own way.

W.O.W. Plaza Lenzerheide: The Perfect End to an Incredible Weekend
Our last day began with another trip to the slopes, soaking up the final bits of skiing before we made our way to the W.O.W. Plaza for some ice skating. The plaza itself was like something out of a winter wonderland - fur-lined chairs with cozy blankets, twinkling Christmas lights, and a charming stage. We stopped at a stand to grab a warm drink, indulging in a hot chocolate topped with extra whipped cream, the perfect treat before heading out onto the ice. To our surprise, when we got on the rink, we had the entire space to ourselves, as if it had been reserved just for us. As we glided across the ice, the sun began to set over the snowy mountains, casting a warm glow across the scene. We wished we had more time to explore, knowing there was so much more to discover, but we’d found a great balance between adventure and relaxation during our stay.

Lenzerheide truly captured our family’s hearts, offering a perfect mix of adventure and relaxation. Whether you're drawn to the slopes in winter or the many activities available throughout the year, this stunning region has something to offer every season. We’ve barely scratched the surface of what Lenzerheide has to offer, and we’d love to return one day to explore even more. For now, the memories we’ve made will stay with us, and one thing is certain - this will not be our last visit to Lenzerheide.
