What is Cordura – and why does it make such amazing kids’ pants?
If there’s one superpower Cordura truly excels at, it’s abrasion resistance. That’s exactly why we use it throughout these pants – not just at the knees and buttocks. Because the entire garment is made from this reinforced fabric, they look like normal everyday pants without the typical patches seen on other outdoor gear.
Martindale abrasion tests – in which fabrics are rubbed against each other until a hole appears – reveal the difference clearly: Cordura outperforms conventional polyester or cotton by a tremendous margin. High-strength Cordura is around three to four times more abrasion-resistant than standard nylon, lasting up to ten times longer than classic cotton duck fabric.
Yet despite its resilience, the material remains flexible, pleasantly lightweight, and breathable – thanks to its stretch component and cotton blend.
