They live right in the heart of Zurich. Specifically, in District 4 – a place where trees are scarce right outside your front door and the nearest green space is usually a city park. Like so many Zurich locals, Moritz Güttinger, his wife, and their children love heading to Uetliberg for a getaway.
“We love just heading into the woods,” he says in a conversation with Franz. They often bring along some "Schlangenbrot" (campfire bread). It’s a great motivator to get the whole family out into nature. Moritz mentions that they spend a lot of time outside. You notice the change immediately. “How long is everyone’s fuse? How quickly does an argument start? How relaxed are we afterwards?” he explains. “Overall, it just feels good – for both the body and the soul”.
Moritz is the founder of ZURIGA. As in every “From Father to Father” talk, Franz asks him what he feels he’s particularly good at as a dad, and where he sees room for growth. His answer touches on a topic that occupies so many families: the mental load of parents. He explains that while he and his wife split most tasks 50/50, he still sees a significant imbalance when it comes to the mental load.
