Care instruction ski clothing: Washing and waterproofing snow jackets and snow pants
How to care for ski clothing
Ski clothing shouldn’t just look great – it must also be functional. After all, it’s got to keep out the cold wind and wetness from the snow, and let sweat dry quickly after a swift descent on the slopes. That’s why we use PrimaLoft® Bio™ insulation in our snow jackets and snow pants.
This material is extremely robust and easy to clean, warming, and breathable. And the best part: The synthetic fibers are 100% recycled, and in seawater and landfills, microbes can break them down completely into materials found in nature.
Your kids will love the ski gear with PrimaLoft insulation because it feels so light, it’s water repellent, and it warms them even in damp conditions. The material dries more quickly than down and is ready for the slopes again in just a few hours, even after being drenched.
How do I wash my ski clothing?
- Empty all pockets, rescuing your kids’ little treasures
- Close all zippers and hook-and-loop closures
- Turn clothing inside out
- Remove dirt and stains before washing with warm water and a soft brush
- Pro tip: There were fries in the ski lodge, and ketchup and mayonnaise left their marks on the jacket? These and other grease spots are best removed with stain remover such as gall soap. Let it sit for around 30 minutes, then rinse it out.
- Use cleaner made for outdoor functional clothing. (We recommend Nikwax Tech Wash, but there are other comparable good products. You can find directions for Nikwax Tech Wash below)
- Do not use powdered detergent, heavy-duty detergent, fabric softener, or bleach
- Use detergent sparingly
- Machine wash on delicate cycle (cool or cold setting)
How do I dry my ski clothing?
- Air dry on a clothesline or drying rack
- The use of the dryer is not recommended

You can test this very easily: Hold your ski jacket and ski pants under running tap water. If the water beads, the clothing are still waterproof. If not, you can renew the waterproofing with a wash-in textile waterproofing liquid or a suitable waterproofing spray.
How to waterproof ski clothing correctly
- Important: Clothing must be clean before waterproofing it
- A special waterproofing liquid for outdoor and functional clothing that’s used in the washing machine is best for ski clothes. Our favorite is Nikwax Tech Wash (you can find instructions below). But you can also find many other products in stores.
Why ski clothing from namuk?
Heat-retaining insulation
The PrimaLoft® insulation uses a patented microfiber structure to help retain body heat and conserve energy while retaining warmth even when wet, unlike down.
High waterproofness
Such high technical standards (15,000 mm water column) are not the norm for children's clothing. However, it is extremely important to us that the little rascals stay dry during outdoor adventures and are outside for as long as possible.
High breathability
No water gets in, yet sweat can get out: Breathability is crucial for comfort so that your child doesn't get wet on the inside.
Durable water repellency (DWR) / PFC free
We don’t use PFC in water-resistant coatings – for nature’s sake.
